Parish Blood Drive, September 25th, 2011

We had a total of eight donations so potentially 24 people benefitted from this generous act of our church members. A recipient could be in need of blood or blood products due to an accident, need for organ transplant, cancer, burn victim......so many in RI are in need each day. As you can see from the expressions of the donors, everyone looks pretty relaxed and happy - it is a wonderful experience to be able to give such a special gift. Our church has a core group of regular donors, maybe someone from our church might consider donating at next years drive, or before then at a local drive or at the blood center. While most people are eligible to donate blood, only a small percentage of people actually do. Many people defer themselves before even trying because they believe they're too old, on medication, or some physical condition will disqualify them from donating. In most cases that's not true.
