Greg Kazarian noted that archives of our church need to be filed as well. We may not have accurate records to date, but from today forward, these records can be properly stored.

Bob Janigian was commended by Ara Boghigian working hard on the lease of the parking lot as well as the antenna in the steeple of the church. He appreciates all the work the Bob has done on these projects.

June Masterson took the microphone and commented about the library. She noted that there is a Library Committee and they are working hard to update the library.

There are 130-170 texts and new books now in the library. The books are expensive. They are attempting to categorize the books and hoping to get the books available to the parishioners very soon. Book plates are available. If one would like to make a donation to the library for any occasion, or in memory of someone, the Library Committee would greatly appreciate contributions.

The chair noted that the time was 3:00 and voting has been officially closed.

A motion to accept the above three reports was made by Joyce Avedisian and was seconded by Paul Parnagian.

  • Sports Scholarships
  • Sunday School
  • Women’s Guild

Vernon Samoorian rose and questioned why the Sunday school had in excess of $17,000 in a money market account. He questioned who oversees the money.

Steven Zaroogian responded by saying that the Sunday school is one of the few organizations that does not transfer funds to the Parish Council by the end of the year. Therefore, the funds collected by donations etc. are in account with the Sunday school. He also suggested that this practice may be something that may be reconsidered or changed in the future.

At times donations are made to the Sunday school or Armenian school. These funds go into a savings account. The interest is low. The monies are not earmarked as endowment. So, unless the schools decide to use the money for programs, the money sits in account.

Deron Hazian asked if those funds are restricted. Steven Zaroogian remarked that the funds are not necessarily restricted.

Bob Kalian noted that naivety of the remarks he is hearing. He strongly suggests that the focus of these funds should be used directly for the children. These funds should stay within the school and not be used for other expenses within the church. He noted that the Sunday school works very hard for the children. These funds should be used for programs to educate our youth.

Ed Onanian brought to the attention of the chair that there is not a parliamentarian assigned at this assembly.
