Games 9, 10, 11 and 12:
The Providence ACYOA Men’s basketball team finished out its schedule with four more impressive victories against a few of the tougher teams in the Rhode Island Christian Basketball League.
On March 3rd, the Providence ACYOA struggled early against South Attleboro Assembly of God Church early on by falling behind 17-2. After a timeout, the team regroup and trailed only by 5 after the 1st quarter. The team went on to cruise past the 4th place team before halftime and held off a late rally as the ACYOA won 84-72.
On March 10th, the ACYOA had no trouble with last place Ocean State Baptist Church as they rolled to a 76-48 win led by Arman Hajinian’s 16 points and 15 rebounds. Arman dominated the game as the ACYOA was never tested.
On March 15th, the ACYOA brought their running shoes and surpassed the century mark in offense with a 109-95 win over Christian Life Center Church of Pawtucket. The team was led by Ara Vartanian’s 44 points and 17 rebounds as well as Sam Hajinian’s triple-double 20 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. The team also had great production from Sako Hagopian (15 points, 7 rebounds) and Cory Garabedian (22 points).
On March 17th, the ACYOA took the court against a very spirited North Kingstown Assembly of God Church. North Kingstown walked into the game with a 9-2 record and was secured in second place. The ACYOA started off quickly and never trailed the whole game. The ACYOA gave away a 14 point second quarter lead as NK cut the lead down to 59-56; but, the ACYOA dug deep and defended the ball very well and frustrated NK’s offense en route to a 80-63 win.
