Junior Choir and
Nazeli Dance Group in New York
The Junior Choir and the Nazeli Dance Group of Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Church were invited by the Holy Martyrs Armenian Church to give a concert in New York on Saturday, May 12, 2007.
The evening started when Very Rev. Vahan Hovhanessian, Pastor of Holy Martyrs Church, welcomed the guests from Rhode Island, Very Rev. Simeon Odabashian and the two clergymen from Etchmiadzin.
The program started with our Junior Choir, conducted by Maestro Konstantin Petrossian, singing Armenian patriotic and popular songs, with great gusto. The Junior Choir showed a lot of talent. After that, Tatevik Martirosian sang, accompianied by Tamara Martirosian on the kanon. Anna Mari Danayan performed a solo, Msho dance.
The second part of the program featured the Nazeli Dance Group. Outfitted in their beautiful costumes, the girls (joined by their Artistic Director Gayane Avagyian) performed several different dances which were warmly received by the appreciative audience.
The program was a great success. Very Rev. Vahan Hovhanessian thanked the youngsters, complimented them on their outstanding performance, and wished them success. Very Rev. Simeon Odabashian thanked the organisers of this program and all those who participated. He was especially appreciative of Maestro Konstantin Petrossian and Arts Education Program Chair, Janna Guegamian, for all their hard work and dedication which has help to insure the success of this vital program.
A reception followed the evening's performance.
