Nazeli Dance group on Armenian Commemoration Day concert in Watertown
On April 22, 2007, more than six hundred people were gathered in St. James Armenian Church in Watertown, MA, for a concert dedicated to the anniversary of the Genocide. Our church's Nazeli Dance group was invited by Rev. Fr. Arakel Aljalian, the Pastor of St. James Church, to take part in this program.
Our Nazeli Dance group has had great success in the eight years since this group was created by the Arts Education Program of our church. Under the direction of Artistic Director Gayane Avagian, they have performed in New York, Washington DC, Massachusetts, and Canada (Montreal, Hamilton and Toronto). Their performance was greeted with great enthusiasm by the audience. Sub-deacons David Gevorkian and Mher Saribekian also performed (on the duduk), beautifully playing several Armenian selections.
The Narek Bell Choir from Washington DC and the YY Sisters, a vocal group from New Jersey, also took part in this concert.
Rev. Fr. Arakel Aljalian gave all the performers his great appreciation and good wishes. The program was very successfull and brought much pleasure to those in attendance.
